Proposal writing
The organization has written many proposals for various groups namely Aronyero, Ongako youth, Kweyo growers cooperative society, Tic Can Rom Community, Patiko piggery group, Gulu catering services, Alike Beads , Oryem Can Widows, and Gulu Milk Supplies. All these have been assessed by the funders and plans are under way to fund them. Achievement: The proposals that were written have been approved and the various groups have been assessed by private sector and activities likely to start next year. This was voluntary community service extended to the communities to easily access financial assistance to start projects and improve on their skills in various areas of their interest. Challenges: Lack of enough funds to accomplish all the set tasks for 2012. The high dependency syndrome among the beneficiaries Lack of community voluntarism for the beneficiaries to participate in the project activities Machines experienced a lot of mechanical problems as operators were operating them for their first time. Overcoming the challenges: The organizations set committees to supervise the projects and monthly review meetings with beneficiaries to encourage full participation and ownership have been held. Technicians from China Machines have constantly been rectifying the mechanical problems and the operators are trying to master the operations of the machines. Recommendation: The organization recommends economic empowerment approach to solve the people’s needs as most of the problems faced by beneficiaries are as a result of poverty. There is call for a holistic approach taking in consideration the entire OVC package if we are to improve on the situations of OVC households.
